RMBJJ History – How Professor Mendes brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Delray Beach
Professor Rodrigo Mendes came to America in 2000 and started RMBJJ Academy in Boston, Massachusetts in 2002.
When Professor Mendes moved to South Florida in 2004, he continued RMBJJ Academy, and opened the current Delray Beach Headquarters location in 2008. Professor Mendes was the first BJJ black belt to open a martial arts academy in Delray Beach, Florida which teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu exclusively. This location serves the Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and surrounding areas of Palm Beach County and South Florida.
Those students who train at different schools under the RMBJJ “flag” are united as a family, with the mats as their second home.
Not Your Typical BJJ School
We are a family community that believes in working hard, playing hard, and supporting each other through the jiu-jitsu journey. You’ll feel like a part of the RMBJJ Family on your very first visit, without feeling intimidated as is often experienced at other BJJ schools.
We are the longest operating Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academy in Delray Beach. Throughout the years, many BJJ schools have come and gone through the area. RMBJJ Academy has been a staple in Delray Beach and the South Florida BJJ scene for over 10 years. You don’t have to worry about our Academy closing down, unlike many other schools. We are here to stay!
